Students and postdocs from Yao, Dusty, Jenny, and Earle’s group got together to learn about different aspects of ice and celerate the rapidly growing cryosphere community at Stanford!

Our group had a wonderful time at the Forum for Research into Ice Shelf Processes (FRISP) in the stunning valley in Bergen, Norway, enjoying walks and talks about science and life.

Josh explained how ice sheet basal lubrication due to lake drainge perturbes the ice surface stresses.

Ishraque talked about his work of using Mask-R CNN to detect boulder on Mars.

Niall explained how basal crevasses can be destabilized to form rifts and how the critical threshold strongly depends on ice temperature!
